Director Raena Janes

Since 2009, Raena Janes has served as director of Heritage Elementary School. Raena has been an active advocate for Arizona Education for many years. She is the owner and founder of La Paloma Academy, Tucson's largest and fastest-growing charter school system.

In 2005, La Paloma Academy was awarded the State of Arizona’s 2005 Excellence in Education Award. Raena has been the recipient of Tucson’s 40 Under 40 Award. She was also named the 2008 Tucson 40 Under 40 Mentor of the Year.

Raena utilizes her award-winning educational philosophies and experience, plus her extensive background in grant writing, at Heritage Elementary School in order to give your child the extra edge needed for a better education. She and the Heritage staff and teachers continue to grow Heritage Elementary School as one of the best charter school systems in Glendale.

Raena is an active member in several non-profit community organizations like Junior League of Tucson, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, and the Advisory Council for the Arizona Charter School Association. Raena is a strong believer in bringing community service projects to our youth, such as cleaning up the school environment, organizing seasonal charity drives, assisting the elderly, and supporting military families.

Raena aspires to educate children not only on academics, but also on how to be outstanding citizens. Additionally, she ensures parents, students and faculty work cooperatively for a more fulfilling educational experience.
